A true industry legend retires after 55 years

Stanley Vaughan, who was Chairman of the BOSS Benevolent Fund for 30 years (now the BOSS Business Supplies Charity) until 2012, has retired as a trustee of the charity after many years’ service

Vaughan said that one of the most thrilling moments during his involvement for the charity was receiving £1,000 from a generous industry member following a video of a beneficiary being shown at the BOSS Awards.
Vaughan joined the office products industry in 1964, working for George Rowney. He also worked as marketing director at Rexel until he was appointed Managing Director of Swan Stabilo UK.
He created a very imaginative marketing and customer incentive programme by holding a series of conferences at Stabilo in Nuremberg which are remembered and loved by many due to their intensive product and “Beer Keller” training, the like of which had never been seen before in our industry. He also won awards for his exhibition stands, including one that featured the cast from TV’s ‘Allo ‘Allo, including the notorious Herr Flick! His German director just did not know what to make of it…
For many years, Vaughan was also the secretary and treasurer of the Society of Old Friends, and some have said that if it hadn’t been for his tenacity, the Old Friends might not have continued.
For the last few years, Stanley has spent a good deal of time cruising overseas, pursuing one of his great loves – travel.
