Comms365 adds Vodafone NB-IoT connectivity to its network capability

Delivery of private APN NB-IoT connectivity will utilise Comms365’s extensive network to further drive demand for advanced IoT solutions

This will provide a direct connection between Comms365 and Vodafone networks, enabling the deployment of NB-IoT devices. The company has released this latest IoT connectivity option, following the success of its Private LoRaWAN network deployments.

Mike van Bunnens, MD Comms365, commented: “The internet of things has been billed as the dawn of a new age, with wild industry claims about billions of devices being connected. Whilst there is no doubt that IoT, in its many forms, is leading a disruptive charge on the market there are many components of IoT that are already quietly incorporating themselves into daily life. Sensors that are based around LPWAN (low power wide area networking) can be produced in the smallest of forms, using very little power, and can operate on a single battery for months, or in many cases, years.”

He continued: “This addition to our IoT portfolio is great news for IoT projects that require small amounts of data over long periods of time, many  positioned in hard to reach places. Our technology and infrastructure solutions include many variants of connectivity, including fixed line and cellular, through to newer LPWAN services such as LoRaWAN and NB-IoT.  As we’ve said before, a successful IoT strategy should be built around real challenges and not all solutions can achieve these objectives using the same technology, and that’s why we have built a network with diverse capabilities.

“The Vodafone NB-IoT network is expanding rapidly with new geographies added daily. We have been working with Vodafone since 2009, firstly with their Private APN M2M services and now we are delighted that we have taken the decision to further utilise Vodafone’s extensive IoT solutions, by launching our own Private APN NB-IoT offering, which uses our interconnected networks. We look forward to deploying advanced LPWAN services as part of the Internet of Things.

He concluded: “By offering a portfolio of connectivity solutions, alongside our industry leading IoT Portal, storage and analytics platforms and by introducing customers to our ecosystem of integrated IoT partners, we look forward to helping businesses and public sector bodies achieve their goals utilising the most appropriate technology.”
