NEWS: Mismatch Between Employer Policies and Worker Expectations

As reported by OnRec, recent analysis shows that just 5% of new job openings in the UK are fully remote, even as thousands of workers continue to search for home-based roles

The findings highlight a growing mismatch between employer policies and employee expectations, as many companies continue to push staff back into offices.

The research comes amid rising scrutiny of remote working. While some employers are encouraging a return to the office, millions of UK workers are now accustomed to hybrid or fully remote arrangements. Estimates suggest that 23.2 million Brits work from home at least part-time, and flexibility is now the second most important factor for jobseekers, according to Vestd’s Workplace Values Study.

Experts warn that ignoring these expectations could carry a significant recruitment risk. Organisations that fail to offer flexible working options may struggle to retain talent, as employees increasingly gravitate toward employers willing to provide the work-life balance many now expect.
