Almost three-quarters of small firms have experienced cybercrime, according to the Federation of Small Businesses (FSB), highlighting the growing need for robust protection against online threats
Recent figures show that one in two UK small businesses identified a cyber attack last year, while one in four experienced a cyber crime, underlining the importance of taking preventative action.
In response, the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) has launched a new Cyber Action Toolkit designed specifically for small businesses and sole traders. The free resource offers practical, step-by-step guidance to help organisations strengthen their cyber defences and protect sensitive data.
The toolkit allows users to track their progress as they work through key areas of cyber security, starting from basic actions and advancing towards Cyber Essentials certification – the government-backed standard that helps businesses guard against common online threats.
Packed with the government’s latest advice and guidance, the Cyber Action Toolkit aims to make security simple, accessible and achievable for every small business.
The NCSC describes the toolkit as “totally free, simple to use, and quick to start, even for those new to cyber security.”
