As reported by The Stationers Company, the Confederation of Paper Industries (CPI) hosted an Industry Showcase in Parliament last month bringing together leading organisations from across the UK paper and packaging sector

Sponsored by Frank McNally MP, the event gave MPs and peers the chance to meet manufacturers, explore new technologies and discuss the policy changes needed to support long-term growth. CPI CEO Alex Veitch and Tristan Osborne MP, chair of the Sustainable Resource APPG, stressed the need for clearer government support on energy costs and for stronger collaboration across the sector to advance the circular economy.

Seven CPI member companies – including SAICA, Cepac, DS Smith, Shotton Mill, Smurfit WestRock, Durham Box and Essity – exhibited innovations showcasing the industry’s investment, skills and regional impact. More than 20 MPs and Lords attended, engaging directly with businesses about sustainability progress and the challenges affecting the UK packaging supply chain.
