Superstat hosts another great showcase

Reconnecting was the theme of the event with suppliers and members keen to talk about how supplying a changed workplace actually works

Anthony Goodwin from Sandler Training – the training partner to Superstat – hosted the workshops, which aimed to get everyone talking about the big themes dominating our industry right now.

Workshops

The first workshop looked in depth at the long-term future of the office supplies industry. What does the office supplies dealer of the future look like? How do we adapt in order to compete? These questions and more were answered positively with an emphasis on the practical: identifying opportunities for growth, diversification and profit and how to do it all while maintaining a decent margin. Next up was a session on the dynamics of hybrid working; what it is, why it’s here to stay and how to deliver the range, service and access to products that customers now want. The final session of the morning followed on from that, taking a marketing approach to reconnecting with customers. What is the best way to reconnect? What techniques are available for engaging with people on the move? We worked through the answers to these questions looking at available options and how we can adapt our marketing strategies for the future.

Post-exhibition, there was a session on prospecting in 2021; based on content from the Sales Academy training programme which Superstat has been running monthly since April this year. During this hour slot, members were given a never-fail formula for removing the anxiety from cold-calling which generates positive results. Exhibition

Although quite understandably, numbers were less than pre-pandemic levels this actually worked in Superstat’s favour! Suppliers and members alike found that they had the time to have longer and more meaningful conversations, discussing real opportunities for the future and capitalising on the enthusiasm on both sides to just get out there and start selling again. Everybody has had to adapt how they go to market and with what products so it was great to see how so many of the vendors had responded to that need. From diversification of traditional ranges to new product areas such as health and hygiene, it was all covered during the event.

Awards

As is now tradition, the Superstat event culminated with a black tie dinner, awards ceremony and phenomenal band for afters. Award winners were:

Dealer Excellence Award (up to £2.5m): County Office Supplies

Dealer Excellence Award (£2.5-£4m): Buywise UK

Dealer Excellence Award (£4m+): A&A Business Supplies

Supplier of the Year Award: Exertis Supplies
