Canon asserts that Katun and GPI’s products infringe on their European patent
Recently, Canon filed a complaint against Katun and GPI with the Local Division Düsseldorf of the Unified Patent Court asserting potential patent infringement of Canon’s European Patent 3 686 683 B1 (“EP’683”).
“Katun is confident the products it is selling and distributing for use in Canon applications are noninfringing and will work diligently to reach resolution on the issue with Canon,” said William McIntyre, General Counsel for Katun Corporation.
“For more than 45 years, Katun has led the aftermarket industry in providing IP-compliant, high-quality products,” continues McIntyre. “Working together with our owners, GPI in Taiwan, we continue to invest significant resources into ensuring IP-compliance, including using robust processes and procedures, employing several intellectual property specialists, and relying on our significant subject matter expertise.”
