The BOSS Business Supplies Charity’s annual Charity Day last week raised a record-breaking £17,200 to help provide financial assistance to those from our industry who are in need
Overall, more than 100 golfers and spa attendees enjoyed a day out in the sunshine – and indoors at the spa – at the Belton Woods resort in Grantham, coming together in the evening for a buffet dinner and the Charity’s famous auction and raffle.
Winner of the individual golf competition – and of the Tim Holmes Trophy (presented by Tim’s son Andrew, on the far right in the picture) – was Jon Simmons, while the team competition was won by Team 1 from Fellowes, comprising Nick Brown, Russ Brown, Rich Hogg and Tim Browning.
Unusually, there was even a ‘hole in one’ achieved on the day by Gary Clark, whose ‘obligation’ to buy everyone in the ‘club house’ a celebration drink was met by Highlands, who made a generous donation to the male mental health charity MANUP?.
Indeed, thoughts of both Tim Holmes and the more recently departed Steve Bilton were very much in evidence, and auctioneer Steve Hilleard gave a moving tribute to the latter, emphasising the importance of safeguarding mental health and announcing that a proportion of raffle donations would also be donated to MANUP?.
BOSS Charity chair Martin Wilde commented “Once again we all had a splendid Charity Day at Belton Woods: while the golfers enjoyed playing a beautiful course in bright sunshine, the spa attendees were privileged to hear an inspiring and personal talk by Jeanette Bresitz of Office Friendly. The Charity is so grateful for the support it receives for this event from right across our industry, with many companies sending golfers, spa attendees, raffle and auction prizes and very substantial sponsorship. It is thanks to their help, and the assistance of Jeanette Bresitz, auctioneer Steve Hilleard and raffle supremo Jason Stephen, that we have raised more money this year than ever before and will be able to assist even more families going forward.”
The BOSS Charity has also announced that next year’s Charity Day will be held on 19th June 2024 at a new venue – Carden Park in Cheshire.
