Midwich and their partner, Snelling Business Systems, have contributed over £30k in discounts for state-of-the-art tech to The Nook, a new children’s hospice in the heart of Norfolk
East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (EACH) launched a £10m appeal back in 2014 and called upon local businesses to help support the transformation of children’s hospice care services in Norfolk and North Suffolk. The charity launched The Nook Local Business Network where local business could sign up to a pledge over a three to five-year period. This has seen well over 50 local businesses support in this way to help fund of a new purpose-built hospice in the heart of Norfolk, called The Nook.
Midwich, who are based in Diss, Norfolk along with tech integrator Snelling Business Systems, based in Wymondham, Norfolk asked some of the world’s leading technology brands to also lend their support to the appeal.
Stuart Mizon, commercial director at Midwich Group, commented: “EACH is our longest standing charity partner so when they called up local businesses to lend their support towards the £10m hospice appeal, we couldn’t say no!
“We firstly approached some of the world’s leading technology brands, such as, LG, NEC, Sennheiser, Chief, AMX, JBL and Barco, to lend their support – we managed to source over 60 audio-visual products for the hospice installation. We then worked with one of our integration partners, Snelling Business Systems, to ensure the products were seamlessly build and installed into the design of the Nook building. They also ensured EACH’s staff understood the technology through a series of product training sessions – it was a real team effort! “
The new technology at The Nook includes video conference facilities, flat screen TVs in every bedroom, large commercial and interactive screens with integrated audio products for each meeting space.
In November 2019, The Nook was officially opened by Her Royal Highness, The Duchess of Cambridge, along with guests, local school children, friends of the Nook and families they support.
