Superstat is encouraging other companies in the industry to join them in donating food for local food banks this Christmas to help the half a million adults and children in the UK who rely on them
The group came up with the idea last year when the team decided that instead of sending Christmas cards to each other, that they would donate food desperately needed by their local food bank instead.
Marketing director Karly Haley said: “It started as a simple idea that while we were busy planning our own Christmas celebrations, there are over two million people in the UK that are under nourished and might struggle to put Christmas dinner on the table and that we could do something to help that.
“The whole team got so behind it the office was full of donations and our local food bank was delighted when we turned up with a car loaded full of food and toiletries. We made a small difference in our local area but imagine the impact if the whole industry got involved.”
For anyone wanting to join in, the Trussell Trust have 1,200 foodbanks in the UK and each centre is listed on their website along with a list of items they currently need supplies of. It is advisable to contact your local centre to arrange a time to drop off your donation, especially if it is quite large.
