Sustainable success on the up

The last few months have seen companies across the industry winning awards for their sustainable commitments, investing in eco initiatives and celebrating sustainable milestones

The industry is becoming increasingly invested in sustainable practices to meet the commitments of the governments Net Zero Strategy, which aims for the UK to achieve net zero emissions by 2050. But, according to Forbes, although 90% of business leaders think sustainability is important only 60% of companies have a sustainability strategy. So, businesses that make sustainable efforts should be celebrated.

For the OT Group, at the end of last year their sustainable management and performance was ranked in the top 25% of all organisations to date, and earlier this month Konica Minolta were included included on the Climate A List for 2022.

Businesses can also take a sustainable step forward by investing sustainable initiatives. In a 2022 WeWork study, 80% said they plan to increase their investments in sustainability, like ASC Group. The company announced it was investing £250,000 in sustainable initiatives with the aim of becoming net zero by 2030. This included installing 220 solar panels on its head office roof to generate energy and ensuring the use of 100% recycled filler cardboard in all orders from its distribution centre.

And businesses can also implement sustainable initiatives in their own processes. Last year, Brother UK celebrated a sustainability milestone of 40m toner cartridges recycled globally since the launch of it’s programme in 2004. Brother’s collection scheme has been zero waste to landfill accredited since 2013 by cutting down on waste at all points of the lifecycle, to support customers reach their own sustainability goals. The programme began by processing a handful of cartridges and since then has grown to recycle and remanufacture approximately 3m toner cartridges a year.
