New survey data from business technology authority Tech.co has revealed that 47% of company decision-makers are considering using AI tools to carry out tasks instead of hiring new employees

The results revealed that these leaders believe that approximately 26.8% of their current personal workload could be accomplished using ChatGPT or similar tools.

Since its launch in November 2022, ChatGPT has garnered over 100 million active users per month. This AI tool’s capacity to assist employees in efficiently handling daily tasks raises concerns about the future of human employment. As AI tools continue to enhance employee productivity, human-led projects may become increasingly susceptible to automation.

Some providers of project management software are already exploring the integration of artificial intelligence to streamline task management. For instance, ClickUp has introduced an AI tool that assists users with activities like writing proposals and drafting emails, and interested individuals can now join a waitlist to access this tool.

Despite the growing popularity of AI tools, the survey conducted by Tech.co indicates a degree of skepticism regarding the possibility of ChatGPT replacing entire job roles. About 52% of business leaders expressed the belief that ChatGPT and similar AI tools would never entirely replace a job role within their organisations.

Tech.co’s lead writer Aaron Drapkin commented: “AI tools are rapidly changing the way employees deliver tasks across a broad range of industries. Everything from coding to legal advice can now be carried out by AI – and ChatGPT has only been available to the public for around six months.

“Although respondents to our survey seemed divided on whether ChatGPT or similar AI tools could soon replace an entire role, with new use cases arising almost every day, the future of business and its relationship with AI is becoming increasingly unpredictable. It could majorly impact hiring going forward – and for some businesses, it already is.”
