Brother invests in new range of thermal transfer printers as market grows

Brother UK has strengthened its four-inch print portfolio with two new thermal transfer printers as the company aims to help Auto-ID and general reseller partners tap into the growing thermal transfer supplies market, which is set for six per cent year-on-year growth in 2020 and 2021

The TD-4420TN and TD-4520TN are designed to provide flexibility, enabling both thermal transfer and thermal direct output to allow users working across logistics, warehousing, retail, healthcare and hospitality to produce reliable documentation.
Unlike thermal direct-only products, the printers can create archival quality labels to withstand temperature extremes, ultraviolet exposure, chemicals and sterilisation.
Each product is SAP certified, meaning users will be able to use the devices to print directly from SAP software, which the solutions provider says will help businesses streamline their processes and workflows.
Brother’s TD-4 range supports BarTender, which is software that enables businesses to improve safety, security, efficiency and compliance by creating and automating the printing and control of labels, barcodes, RFID tags and plastic cards.
Hassan Masaud, product and solutions manager at Brother UK, said: “We are investing significantly in developing thermal transfer print solutions that can enable our reseller partners to meet the needs of customers across an expanding range of sectors, from healthcare to hospitality.
“The durability and reliability of the TD-4420TN and TD-4520TN will play a key role in ensuring users can create hard-wearing wristbands and asset tags, along with robust labels that can withstand an extensive range of temperatures and lighting.
“Thermal transfer print represents a significant opportunity for the Auto ID and IT channel with the market set for growth, and these products will allow our partners to take new, competitive models to their customers.”
Other key features include a new Mobile Deploy function, which will enable users to update software remotely from any location, reducing device downtime by removing the need to take printers out of circulation.
The new range of TD-4 printers strengthens Brother’s portfolio of thermal print solutions, which now encompasses 25 models.
