Konica Minolta has announced the appointment of Rob Ferris as the new CEO of Konica Minolta Business Solutions (UK) Ltd, a pivotal role in the company’s ongoing transformation to a digital IT services company
Ferris will take up the role of CEO in May 2020 and will bring a wealth of experience and expertise that will be invaluable to the company’s ongoing evolution. Prior to joining Konica Minolta, he was a key part of the executive leadership team Canon UK & Ireland. He has held numerous leadership roles across the business over the last 19 years, most recently as country director, sales and professional services and was responsible for the office and professional print business groups. Prior to joining Canon, Ferris was the sales leader for an IT systems integrator and services provider.
Lars Wørzner, MD region north at Konica Minolta, stated: “We are proactive in addressing customer needs and corporate responsibilities, to meet the wider socio-economic and business changes taking place in the world today. Konica Minolta has a rich heritage of innovation and we have been transforming from a predominant provider of print and image-based technologies into a key provider of digital IT services, focusing on innovation, data and added value. Rob is the perfect person to lead Konica Minolta Business Solutions (UK) Ltd’s continued evolution to a digital IT services company. He has a proven track record of maximising business performance and delivering against profitability and growth targets, along with a burning passion for developing winning teams and enabling talented professionals to reach their full potential.”
Reflecting upon his new role, Ferris commented: “Konica Minolta has embarked on a very exciting journey, with a powerful long-term vision and strategy to realign its focus from a tradition of printing excellence, to a far broader IT services approach, fully supporting, transforming and simplifying the way its customers run their business systems. This proactive and transformational process is in marked contrast to our competitors, demonstrating a firm understanding and commitment to delivering a holistic solution which meets market demands but also respects the wider responsibilities we have to society and the environment.”
Konica Minolta’s proactive and forward-looking vision has been noted by key analysts including Quocirca, which recently commented: “Konica Minolta is perhaps one of the key Japanese traditional print industry players that has articulated a strong vision and strategy to reinvent its core-business. It’s workplace hub platform, announced a few years ago, is being launched to the indirect channel in Europe, targeted at SMEs to help simplify their IT infrastructure. Through several acquisitions in the IT services space, Konica Minolta is firmly placing its bets on repositioning the business as an IT services provider, while remaining committed to innovation in its core print technology business. Konica Minolta’s commitment to innovation was clearly demonstrated across areas such as IoT, intelligent video security (through its acquisition of Mobitix) and artificial intelligence/machine learning.”
