ACCO UK is celebrating the accomplishments of team member Anita Glithero ahead of her 45th anniversary with the company
2nd May 2023 will mark 45 years since Anita Glithero arrived at ACCO Brands for her first day as a sales representative. She was 16 years old at the time and assigned a two-digit employee number, which she still possesses.
In the years that have passed since that first day, Glithero climbed the ranks and held the positions of trade sales executive, field sales manager, and key account manager before ascending to her current role in the reseller channel.
Glithero has remained with the company throughout its various iterations including ACCO Company Ltd, ACCO Europe Ltd, ACCO Rexel Ltd, and now ACCO UK Ltd. She has worked for the company, and within the office products industry, for her entire career. In 1999, after 21 years of dedicated service, she was notably quoted as saying that she had “no wish to work for another employer.”
During her time at ACCO, Glithero has worked under 24 different line managers and despite so many changes, she has remained a constant in the company’s sales department. All of her past managers have recognised and praised her loyalty, passion to deliver the best for her customers, exemplary behaviour, performance as a team player, and contagious enthusiasm.
ACCO’s regional vice president – UK & Ireland, Mark Wilkinson, is one such former line manager who cannot help but sing Anita’s praises: “It is hard to imagine ACCO UK and ACCO Brands EMEA without the contributions of Glithero.
“She has been such a mainstay not only for our company, but for the office products industry as a whole. We are all very lucky to know her, to work alongside her, and to enjoy her infectious presence. I cannot congratulate Glithero enough on this milestone and look forward to all she will continue to achieve in the years to come.”
But it is not just her management and peers at ACCO who have recognised her dedication and hard work. Over the past four and a half decades, she has become a well-known, well-liked, and respected figure within the industry itself.
Her efforts have earned her various awards including a Successful Salesman award in 1984 and Sales Champion in 1999. In 2013, she was made a Freeman of the Worshipful Company of Stationers & Newspapers Markers. Most recently, she was awarded the BOSS Federation’s Unsung Hero Award at the 2018 BOSS Awards.
Yet, after so many years and accolades, Glithero still maintains the same passion, dedication, and drive she has always possessed.
