Business technology solutions provider Brother UK has launched a new next-day maintenance service for its industrial thermal print range, helping to minimise the risk of device downtime for customers where labelling is critical to operations
The new Brother ONSITE service is available for Brother’s TJ range of industrial label printers and is additional to the vendor’s competitive three-year return-to-base warranty that’s provided as standard. It guarantees that an engineer will visit the customer’s site the next working day if requested before 3pm to help bring devices back online. Cover is available for five or seven days a week.
Brother ONSITE’s additional cover is targeted at users with essential labelling needs. That includes retail and logistics businesses that have 24/7 warehousing operations, which require a faster turnaround to fix any device faults than what’s currently provided under standard warranties.
The new service aims to bolster channel partners’ offering to customers that require industrial labelling devices.
The TJ series is Brother’s first range of industrial label printers, delivering robust labels that can withstand extremes in moisture, durability and chemical resistance. The eight models can operate in both direct thermal and thermal transfer mode, and have print speeds of up to 14 inches per second.
Ged Cairns, head of category – Auto-ID at Brother UK, said: “Labelling is a critical part of today’s logistics infrastructure. If a label printer breaks down, it renders warehouse operators unable to produce workflow labels. This risks creating a major backlog of orders with delayed dispatches and potentially resulting in costly customer returns.
“We’re proud of the TJ series as our heavy duty, reliable industrial labelling solution. But Brother ONSITE now offers users the additional peace of mind that in the unlikely event that devices do break down, our engineers will bring printers back online the next day – keeping productivity high and minimising operational impact.
“Brother ONSITE is our latest in a line of initiatives to help partners take advantage of new market opportunities, including growth in the warehousing, fulfilment and e-commerce sectors.”
The launch of Brother ONSITE is part of the vendor’s specialist print solutions (SPS) growth plan, helping partners to tap into growth in the labelling category. Brother UK has established complementary partnerships with barcode software providers, such as Loftware, Teklynx and BarTender, and with barcode scanning device vendors such as Datalogic.
Brother UK also recently launched Managed Label Services (MLS) to cater for increasing demand for hardware-as-a-service options, helping firms to acquire tech as part of cost-effective plans. MLS subscriptions allow firms to access new Brother label printers, third party hardware, software, services and supplies – along with associated warranties like Brother ONSITE – with the option to spread the upfront cost over an affordable monthly payment plan.
