Canon Europe has been selected by the European Commission to showcase its sustainability initiatives at this year’s European Development Days, taking place in Brussels on 5-6 June.
The theme of this year’s event will be ‘gender equality and women empowerment’, and Canon will be showcasing how it is able to utilise the power of imagery to support livelihoods, drive gender equality and give young people a visual voice regarding the implementation of the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals.
There will be workshops at the event that visitors can take part in, including the Young People Programme and Miraisha Programme, the latter of which helps African people to establish careers in photography and print.
Stuart Poore, director of sustainability at Canon Europe, said: “Imagery is incredibly powerful. It allows you to connect with an audience and bring people into your world. We are thrilled to be exhibiting at the European Development Days and will be using this as an opportunity to show the change we’re empowering others to make: from our Young People Programme, which is helping the next generation raise their voices on subjects that matter, to Miraisha, which is supporting local people to up-skill for careers in the imaging sector.”
Canon can be found at stand 27 of the event.
