evo announces the sad passing of John Clemie

It is with great sadness that evo announces the passing of John Clemie, Premier Vanguard founding partner and Director, following a short illness

John and Dominic (De Luca) founded Premier Vanguard 16 years ago and between them they built the business into an industry-leading supplier of till rolls and GNFR. The Premier Vanguard business is a family with many long-standing colleagues and reflects the values and work ethos of the two founding directors. Our thoughts are with John’s family, friends,  Dominic and the Premier Vanguard team at this sad time.

Andrew Gale, evo Chief Executive, says: “We are grateful for the time we had with John. He was a great example to us all and we all learned and benefitted from his wisdom and experience. In a Board setting, you had to be on it, as John was top quality, very sharp, highly intelligent, a commercially savvy Yorkshireman, but always conducting business in a civilised and pleasant manner, while keeping you on task. The warmth and affection felt toward him by all of the evo / Premier Vanguard team is very tangible and makes his passing all the harder. He was a gentle giant of a man. Rest in peace.”

Dominic De Luca, joint Founder of Premier Vanguard, says: “I feel extremely privileged to have been one of only four business partners whom John worked with over his 50+ year career. Since we merged our businesses together in 2008, John managed to smooth some of my very sharp edges, he simply made me a better human being.

“He showed me how to run a business intelligently, conservatively, and most importantly – profitably!

His wisdom was sublime, and he made everyone he met feel good about themselves. He made sure that anyone he did business with felt good about the transaction. People who John met understood that his word was his bond. A true gentleman and an absolute delight to be around, he leaves a void in my life that I have not experienced since my father died. He was the best friend, mentor, and business partner anyone could ever wish for. His colleagues at Premier Vanguard will feel his loss for a very long time and we send our condolences to his family and very wide circle of friends. I will miss him immensely.”
