Exertis promotes its apprenticeship schemes

Exertis has announced its participation in the 13th annual National Apprenticeship Week (3 to 7 February), reporting on the success of its programmes and future initiatives

Currently, Exertis has 30 apprentices enrolled on its 2018-2020 upgrade trainee management programme, who have received 660 hours of training and support delivered through 88 workshops across four of its sites. So far, 69% of upgrade apprentices have achieved promotions.
New candidates are now being recruited for its next round of upgrade and the newly established business administration apprenticeship scheme. A series of recruitment roadshows will run from today until the end of the week at six Exertis sites across the UK.
“We are pleased to be supporting the National Apprenticeship Week with the announcement of our 2020 apprenticeship schemes and our further support for external apprenticeships. These schemes are essential in talent development. Our upgrade and business administration programmes provide the skillsets that we require in our business, offering people of all ages and backgrounds a clear path to a successful career,” said Nick Foster, Exertis, HR director.
Exertis is also funding and supporting 60 apprentices with external apprenticeship providers covering accounting, facilities management, project management, learning and development, customer service and sales. The company has recently become an approved City and Guilds and Institute of Leadership and Management (ILM) centre, enabling Exertis to deliver, and internally assess, English and maths qualifications as well as a range of vocational and professional qualifications such as business administration, management and coaching. Sixteen people have gained their L1 and L2 English and maths qualifications in-house.
“I would recommend an apprenticeship because it makes you more self-aware and I can clearly see the benefits in terms of where I was at the start of the programme compared to where I am now. It has helped me identify steps for development to get to where I need to be”, said, Matthew Warwick, Exertis, product manager.
“I’ve built relationships with a lot of colleagues internally – being on an apprenticeship helps everyone work together and brings everyone closer. You get contact with people from other sites which is really good for internal team working. If you need help with anything you can use the networks that you’ve built.”
Last year apprentices on the Exertis upgrade programme raised over £12,600 for a variety of local charities through events held by teams in Basingstoke, Harlow, Burnley, Stoke and Elland.
