Spectrum, one of the UK’s leading suppliers of innovative and effective office solutions, is thrilled to be celebrating a significant milestone in 2024, as executive chairman Ken Sturdy marks 40 years with the organisation
First joining the Hull-based brand in 1984 as a young apprentice service engineer, Ken’s passion for the industry and dedication to his job saw him climb through the ranks. Over the four decades he’s been with Spectrum, Ken held roles in service management, sales, and general management before taking on the role of managing director and latterly executive chairman.
The wealth of knowledge he gained in these roles has been invaluable in helping the business grow and adapt to the ever-changing marketplace, acting as the driving force behind its growth and success. His upbeat and engaging nature has endeared him with the entire workforce; from chats in the hallway to boardroom meetings, he has always led by example and strived to foster a positive and inclusive work environment.
In 2003 Ken led a management buy out through which the team acquired the majority shareholding from the company founders. This became a catalyst for innovation, transformation and year-on-year growth.
The entire Spectrum team would like to congratulate Ken on a remarkable achievement and thank him for his unwavering positivity and leadership; he truly is an inspiration.
Speaking on the milestone, Ken Sturdy added, “It’s hard to believe it’s been forty years already! I remember first joining Spectrum as an apprentice, so to be here today as the executive chairman has been quite a journey. I couldn’t have achieved everything I have with the business if it wasn’t for the outstanding support and help from the wonderful colleagues and customers I’ve worked with over the years, so I would like to thank them for being part of the Spectrum success story.”
