Premier has started 2021 with the opening of a new regional distribution centre in the north west
Following on from the opening of two other regional centres in Dartford and Bristol in 2019 and 2020 respectively; this new 30,000 square foot facility more than doubles Premier’s warehouse capacity in the region and is located at Haydock, near St Helens, less than a mile from Junction 23 of the M6.
The proximity of the new branch to the motorway network will enable Premier to offer a fast and efficient service to customers in Liverpool, Manchester and all areas across the north west. It will also play a key role in Premier’s national distribution network, supporting other Premier branches throughout the north of England and Scotland.
This is a significant move which will see Premier further improve its service to the north west with comprehensive stocks of paper, display media and packaging products held locally for same day or next day delivery.
Mike Banks, northern operations director commented: “Our Liverpool and Manchester sales teams will continue to operate independently, based at the new regional facility, which is just 20 minutes drive from both Liverpool and Manchester city centres.
“We believe that Premier already offers industry leading service, but we are always looking at how we can do things better as our customer base develops and service requirements change. With a vehicle fleet made up of 10 trucks and an articulated lorry, the location will enable us to improve our logistics service across the North West.
“The new branch will keep extensive stocks of our core paper products, such as our Essential range and the UPM Finesse and UPM Fine ranges that we have recently added to our portfolio. In addition Haydock will also be a regional stock centre for our other products and materials. A range of transit packaging will be held on site, together with our growing range of roll and sheet media for the sign and display market. Our aim is to offer the widest choice of products coupled with an industry leading service that continues to meet the changing needs of our customers.”
Premier offers a choice of over 5,500 products, totalling some 40,000 tonnes of product available through its national branch network. In 2019 Premier became part of Oval Japan Pulp and Paper; the world’s largest paper merchant group but Premier’s focus is very much on providing a local service and customers can be assured that their orders will be delivered by a trained delivery team who care about customer service.
