Sharp Electronics Europe had the highest unit sales growth of all office equipment manufacturers between July to September 2018 (Q3), according to IDC’s latest overview of the office printer market in western Europe. The number of multi-function printers that Sharp sold increased by 22% compared to sales in the same quarter of the previous year.
Sharp increased the number of units sold, with IDC reporting that Sharp’s value growth (turnover per unit) was 18% – within the top three manufacturers measured.
Phil Sargeant, program director, imaging and hardcopy devices and document solutions, European region, IDC, said: “The data shows that Sharp gained in strength even while the overall market showed a slight decline. We saw growth for Sharp in all areas, especially in sales of A3 colour devices and geographically, in France, Germany, Switzerland and the UK.”
Peter Plested, director, information systems, Sharp Europe said: “We have worked hard to design devices with a focus on productivity and security so that our customers’ success becomes our success. We see these results as an endorsement of the refresh of our A3 range and the launch of our new A4 devices. All our latest models share the same intuitive user interface so whichever device customers choose, the user and IT experiences are the same.”
IDC market reports are based on sales data reported by all major office equipment manufacturers. Reports are published quarterly to subscribers.
