Commercial is proud to announce that it has signed up to the Clean Van Commitment – a public pledge to move to zero emission vans in cities by 2028.
The Clean Van Commitment is coordinated by Global Action Plan, a charity that works for a green and thriving planet and helps people live more sustainable lifestyles. The charity is behind Clean Air Day, the UK’s largest air pollution campaign; it works with young people to reduce consumerism and increase wellbeing, and it brings business and young people together to work on a more sustainable future.
Commercial has been taking positive action to reduce emissions for nearly 12 years. During that time it has achieved significant reduction in its carbon footprint, adopting sustainable working practices including the introduction of a hydrogen-fuelled fleet and the use of renewable energy.
The business has moved from 73 tonnes of CO2/£m turnover in 2006 to 20 tonnes of CO2/£m turnover in 2018. This means that for every £1m of turnover gained in 2017 it emitted 73% less carbon compared to 2006.
“We are delighted to sign up to the Clean Van Commitment,” says Simone Hindmarch, Commercial co-founder and MD. “It is part of our continuous improvement in sustainability, and our commitment to taking ongoing, meaningful action.”
